Hi, I don't know very much of the technical side of things either, but I
would attempt to reinstall windows directly over the top to fix any errors
which may be there. I would have thought that would be the easiest way to go
about things. I usually go for the easy option, and I can't see why you
can't do that, unless of course you've already tried and failed. In that
case however, I wouldn't know where to start, so I'll give up now while I'm
ahead, LOL.
