Is there any chance that Linux will become a game OS (or someone release a
special
game version)?
*************************

Currently, ID Software os the only vendor to (openly) offer game support for
Linux (Quake 3 Arena ring a bell?). Several larger vendors of application
software (Corel) have also entered the ring.

The hardware area is where Linux falls behind. Linux does support subsets
of OpenGL and glide(barely), but obviously offers no support for Direct 3D.
It only added support for the Riva TNT chipset recently, which has been the
leading graphics chip for over a year now...you can also forget about
support for any force-feedback devices, Environmental Audio (EAX), A3D, etc.

I dual-boot RedHat Linux 6.0 with Win 98. You get the best of both
worlds...
