I have an HP Scanjet 4p that makes a grinding noise when it first starts up.  Do scanners have gears that need lubricating?  If so are scanners difficult to work on?  My husband is a good at fixing electronic items and I thought I would get him to look at it.  Thanks for any suggestions.
