I have a client whose computer freezes several times per day, sometimes up to
ten, and the Microsoft process, RNAAPP, is always involved. After the freeze,
when opening the "Close Program" window accessed through CTRL-ALT-DEL, *always*
RNAAPP is listed there as "not responding". Clicking on it and ending task
always frees up the computer.

I have been able to determine that RNAAPP is a major part of Dialup Networking.
We have reformatted the hard drive (which is not compressed, does not use a disk
overlay, and which I changed from FAT16 to FAT32), and upgraded the Windows 95
version from the original to Win95B (which involved a major Dialup Networking
upgrade.) We have changed out the "no-name" modem and put in a US Robotics
Sportster "real" modem. We have, just for the heck of it, changed the RAM on the
motherboard.

This client does reboot several times a day. She accesses the internet through
her Dialup Networking Connection, and uses Netscape 4.x for her browser, and
Eudora Lite 3.0.5 (whatever the latest version is) for her email. She was using
older versions of both those programs until I upgraded them. She has two or
three DOS programs she frequently uses, including WordPerfect 5.1, as well as a
glump of perfectly ordinary Windows programs.

Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any suggestions what to do other
than my next step, which is to change out the motherboard?
