I have a Octek Rhino 12 motherboard with a Pentium 166 processor installed.
 The MB manual states that It can handle 4 SIMMs and 1 DIMM in any
combination of chips up to 256 Mbit.  

I purchased a 64 Mb 8X64-10 SDRAM DIMM to add to my 32 Mb RAM (four 8 Mb
SIMMs).  When I put it in the slot and booted up, the memory counter stated
that I had 48 Mb.  I tried removing the 32 Mb SIMMS and rebooted.  This
time 16 Mb RAM.  I checked the memory using several system diagnostic
utilities and these was only 16 Mb installed.  

I took the memory back to the PC shop and they staid that it checked out
good on their machine (in the back), but that the 64 Mbit EDO 10 ns was not
the right one for the Rhino and gave me another.  

Back to the installing and lo!  same results.  I then took the chip to my
son's computer (also with a Rhino 12 MB) and replaced his 32 Mb DIMM and
his machine also showed only 16 Mb of memory.  

Question: The MB manual states that it can take 3.3V SDRAM/5V EDO DIMM
modules. Are there any other things which could cause only 16 Mb to be
recognized?
