I built a home computer a couple of years ago - a Pentium II 400Mhz.
The motherboard is an Asus P2B-F - Bios Rev. 1009.A (03/04/99).

I have a Quantum 7200 10 GB hard drive on the system, and have bought a
Maxtor 7200 30 GB hard drive to install as a slave.

My problem is that the BIOS won't auto-detect the new hard drive. It lists
almost the correct size, but the number of cylinders and heads is way off.
It seems to me that I need a BIOS update so that the BIOS will recognize
the 30 GB Maxtor accurately.

I know that there have been (at least) updates 1011, and 1012 but have been
unable to locate them.

The Asus site doesn't show any BIOS updates for the P2B-F motherboard. I
have searched the Net - no luck - even Driverguide did not help. Also many
of the Asus web site addresses that I find give a "This page not found"
message in IE 5.5

Does anyone have any thoughts? I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
