As to "tortures" you must apply to your PC...

  First of all, there is a recognized opinion that if you use
your PC each day for about 30-60 days after the purchase and
it makes no problems, the probability of having problems in next
2-4 years is quite low; later, the hardware wear starts to show
up.

  Furthermore, there are different test programs; there is stuff
to torture your memory, harddisk, video, almost anything. When I
need to check (not torture) the PC, I use NDIAGS from old
Norton Utilities package -- it verifies that everything is OK.

  Extended warranty... I think that most people will replace their
current PC in 2-3 years, so any "extra" warranty wouldn't be
necessary.
