Had the the same problem, but with a different Astra model. It has
to do with the Vista Scan utility being in the start up group.
Remove it from your start up group, reboot the computer and the
scanner should work fine. This is a probelm they have discovered
but not removed from the install disk yet. I got this from the tech
support line (granted had to pay for the call, but they were bang on
with what was wrong).
