Hi Lewis:

I plan to post some helpful tips on wireless
networking on my website, drpcdr.ca

My site is not online now thanks to RACIST NEGATIVE
whining complainers!

I believe Intel's website may provide some info.

Wireless can be a real pain to setup!

You will need a wireless router. D-link and linksys
make good routers.

External usb wireless nics work better than pci
wireless cards.

Wireless networking is not supported by windows 95 nor
windows 98 first edition. And NOT all wireless nics
will work with Windows 98 second edition. And some
wireless nics don't like 128 bit encryption (26 alpha
numeric characters for key) or any encryption
whatsoever. WEP 64 bit encryption (10 digit like a
phone number)is most commonly used.

Wireless routers are configured by a PC connected to
it by wire.

First, ensure you can browse the Internet.

Have a paper clip ready to reset wireless router. Log
into the network management via your browser usually
by typing the following address:

192.168.2.1

Write down the key and ssid you composed.

Turn on your remote pc with the wireless nic already
installed.

The wireless software icon appears on the taskbar near
the clock.
Click on it. You should see your ssid. Select it then
click connect. You will be prompted to enter the WEP
key. Click on the browser to surf.

If homepage does not display then try reseting the IP
using:
start >run >winipcfg >release all >renew all
OR
start >all programs >accessories >command prompt
>ipconfig /release all

>ipconfig /renew

Hope this helps

Chris
