What sort of cooling are you using for the case, itself?  I'm getting the 
impression that it isn't that the cooling on the card is ineffective, but 
rather that the heat builds up inside the case.  A bigger heatsink on the 
video card won't work much better, if the ambient temperature inside the 
case is too high.

Ive just purchased a BFG 6800GS for my legacy 3.06 HT computer.  It runs =
fine most of the time, however, if I burn cd's or put my side cover on th=
e tower,
the temp goes from an idle 53C to 67C and then the card turns off.
