   Thanks for the reply.  Matrox basically gave up and sent me back to the
dealer. Turns out my neighbor bought the exact same card so I tried his on
my system, same problem.  What's odd is that if I play with the settings, I
can reduce the effect somewhat - I created a user defined monitor setting -
but I can't get rid of the shadows.
