Tony:

There are several surplus sellers advertising
in the Computer Shopper, companies like
Surplus Direct (Egghead now, I guess) and
HiTech. They all must have Internet presence, as
Egghead, to wit:

http://www.egghead.com/store/ent/eggs_cat.browse?sect_id=SUR_4

I assume most are quoted on Pricewatch and you
would discover these companies if you search for
prices on older parts. See:

http://www.pricewatch.com

But note, if you are in a large city, there will be a
computer warehouse and dealer area which may sell to the
public (here in Miami, Fl., it is West of the airport)
and the prices are better than surplus prices.

ESD is Electrostatic Discharge. Static electricity is
caused by an imbalance of electrons on the surface
of a material. Electrostatic discharge is the transfer
of charge between bodies at different electrical potentials.

Electronic components can be damaged at voltages under
100 volts. Your threshold of sensation of static electricity
is 3,000 volts (door knobs in carpeted rooms on winter days).
ESD damage is estimated at a billion dollars per year by some.
For more information, check out the ESD Association website at:
