You'll probably get some good feedback here. To help those who might have
suggestions, could you provide some additional information for us?

When you say you don't want to spend much money, about how much do you have
to commit to this project?

What do you use the computer for?

The cheapest route might be to get on eBay and find some older style boards
that would work with your existing CPU. AMD would be a great way to go and
cheaper overall. Moving into a P4 system will almost certainly raise the
limits of your spending. To move up to P4 or a comparable AMD you'd be
looking at upgrades to memory, CPU, board, video (depending upon your needs)
at the very least.

Subject: [PCBUILD] CPU upgrade - motherboard

My keyboard buffer is out on my motherboard so I need a new motherboard. I
have a athlon 900mhz MSI board in a gateway mid-tower St. Francis model
case. I am looking for some advice on what to replace my motherboard with.
I don't want to spend a lot of money. Should I stay with some type of
Athlon system or go to a intel P-4 system? What are my compatibility
limitations? I am running Windows XP, and the current system has a 40 gig
hard drive and about 850 MB of 133mhz ram.
