  This is not just any Christmas, too.  I think some manufacturers
may be betting that owners of older PCs will feel pressure to upgrade
to new systems before Jan 1, 2000, in order to avoid Y2K problems.
  Slightly different issue -- same conclusion.  Prices probably won't
come down much in the next three months.
