  The onboard video probably wants to use some of your RAM as a 
video buffer, and can't -- that's the only scenario I can think 
of in which a problem with the RAM you are installing could be a 
cause of the apparent symptom.  (My inclination would be to 
suspecta bad video cable first, but apparently you believe 
that's eliminated.)

  Hmmm.  You say it is rated for DDR2 at 667/800 and these are 
533?  Could it be possible that the guy at Fry's had no idea 
what he was talking about?  It sounds like they are below the 
spec that the mobo calls for....
