Hi John,
I just received this in my mail today, the info, not the card.
http://us.hercules.com/products/audio/theaterXP/product.php3  May be what
your friend is looking for. Cheaper than a Creative as well. I do have a
mail in to my son in-law who is a musician and has a Layla sound card, about
$700 I think a few years ago. He does recording and authoring on his
machine. If I get a reply I'll pass along that info as well.
