Dear David:

To find a manual you need to find out who made the motherboard your computer
company used. I am assuming you have a system with a normal AT or ATX form
factor for the case, power supply and motherboard. If so, I use several methods
of finding the OEM of various motherboards. The first step is to attempt to
get the BIOS ID string. This flashes during bootup and can be used to
determine who manufactured the system from several sites on the web. You can also
examine the motherboard for marks, record the chipset and CPU. Any numbers you
find on the motherboard should be searched. Finally there is a FCC ID number
that can tell you who made the specific item although this usually does not
help in IDing the system seller to get a manual.

Good luck,
Mike Scott
