Hi

I had the same problem just only a few days back.

I was setting up my new system with win98 and I kept getting this fatal
exception error msg midway through installation.

well, the problem lies with the ram. I brought it back and got another
piece and what do you know...no more problems.

So you might like to try to stick in another ram that u know is in good
condition.

hope this helps.

Subject: [PCBUILD] fatal exception OD

I am a relative novice so please bear with me. My brother has a Compaq
Presario. I don't know the processor speed but I think it is
a 133 using a Cyrix chip. It was one of the cheap PCs offered for sale
about 2 years ago.

The computer boots up, goes through the boot process, Win95 screen comes up
and then the blue screen with Fatal Exception OD. I assumed that WIN95 had
somehow become corrupted and hoped that by reinstalling WIN95 the computer
would work.

I have booted in safe mode - step-by-step. Goes all the way through & then
when I tell it to load the WIN95 drivers it churns for 10-15
minutes and then the Fatal Exception OD error again. I tried to restore the
registry as per instructions in the WIN95 manual. No
luck.

Tonight we reloaded WIN95, rebooted the computer and got the same error
message - Fatal Exception OD.

Should we now consider reformatting the drive?

Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

Thank You
Adele
