Well, maybe the time loss is not big, but:

1) on machines with a little memory (<48m) swap file and
other stuff are accessed all the time, and I've seen
Windows95 on 16Mb machines [I agree, this is not a typical case],
and clean c: worked faster, although not much;
2) _millionths_ of second? I thought best seek times are about
5-8 ms, which is 5-8/1000 seconds... am I right?
