I have a HP and a Micron computer coming in to me for svc. nxt wk. I've
worked on Packard Bell, Gateway, and Dell machines but never either one
of these. What am I in for in the way of proprietary hardware, driver,
and OS config issues? I shudder to think that either might be like
working on a PB machine. The Micron is fairly new - less than a year.
The HP is an older Pentium machine I believe. I don't have the specs on
it yet. I'm getting ready to hunt them down now.

My client wants to take his OEM (Micron - Akita) USR X2 modem and drop
it in the HP machine - and install the OEM's v.90 upgrade. I'll be
cleaning off the drives of both machines and building them back up again
w/ Win98. Are you folks aware of any standing issues when trying to
install off-the-shelf (non-OEM) software (incl. OS) and hardware in HP
and MICRON machines?

TIA
Joan Rapier
