Robert, I also use the Logitech mouse and am familiar with the problem you
describe. If I understand properly, you ARE using the PS2 port to connect
to your Logitech mouse, but Windows wants to load the MS mouse driver in
addition to the Logitech mouse driver. This gives a conflict.

I am using this mouse on three of my computers. On one which insisted on
doing re-detecting the mouse, I used the following method to resolve:

You can't disable the PS2 port in BIOS since the Logitech is connected to
this port.
You CAN let Windows know that the mouse exists and that it is not re-detect
and load new drivers. To do this let Windows load the device drivers. Then
open the Device Manager and under Properties for the MS Mouse, un-select
all configurations in the Device Usage box. Now Windows will not re-detect
the MS Mouse and load drivers because they are already loaded but Windows
is instructed to not use the device in any configuration.

On another computer I had to do some registry hacking. Hopefully you won't
have to get into that. See the Logitech trouble shooting guide on how to
set the registry mouse type if the above method doesn't work. The registry
hack is not 100% effective and can cause more problems if not done right,
so do it as a last resort.
