Once more, the use of irq for printing software is optional to the writer of
the software (there is a hardware tristate in between the irq signal,
controlled with a port bit). You can configure OS/2, Novell and Linux to
print with irq; to my knowledge, DOS/Windows, W95, W98 and NT don't use it.
I have next a PC with a SB using IRQ7. I can reproduce at the time a .MID
and a .WAV, and get at the time perfect printings, without any noise
distorsion.
The same should apply for the zip.
