  At first glance, George's suggestion doesn't look helpful.  But I've
experienced an issue myself with a Microsoft update (not SP2) that
repeatedly failed automatic installation, but installed smoothly and
correctly when I ran Windows Update manually.
  There's at least a reasonable chance that this may work for you in this
case.
