Subject: [PCBUILD] Internet Explorer Script Error on Windows 98 Startup

I'm receiving a strange error when Windows 98 (SE) is starting up. I've
experienced the same problem on other systems as well. It seems to occur
periodically after the system hangs and is not shut down properly.

An entry shows up in my c:\windows\start menu\programs\startup folder
called "kak.hta".

The specific symptoms are as follows:

1. I receive an error message in a dialogue box that is titled "Internet
Explorer Script Error"

The contents of the box state:
An error has occurred in the script on this page.

Line: 1
Char: 599
Error: Expected Identifier
Code: 0
URL: file://c:\windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\kak.hta

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
(YES or NO buttons presented)

2. A second (minimized) window all appears whenever the above error occurs.
It is entitled "Driver Memory Error" and the window contains a bunch of
non-readable ASCII characters among which I can make out only one phrase
"S3 driver memory alloc failed"

In the short term I have found the problem easy to fix by simply deleting
the "kak.hta" from my Startup folder. However, I am more than a little
curious about how (& why) it is getting there in the first place.
