I recently replaced my NIC (a Kingston KNE110TX ) with another (Linksys
"Network Everywhere" NC100) to get my DSL working again. Both are 10/100
Mbps cards.

DSL is working, but I have a new problem that started after replacing the
NIC. When I turn power on to the PC and peripherals (through a master
switch) the drive light comes on on the PC and the monitor power light
glows green. However, there is no "beep" from the PC speaker, and after a
few seconds the drive light goes off and the monitor power light turns
yellow, indicating it's not receiving a video signal.

If I turn power off and back on, the system then boots normally.

The PC is a P200MMX with 128MB of RAM, two hard disks (C:\ is 7.85 GB ["8.4
GB"], D:\ is 3.71 GB ["4 GB"]), a CD-ROM, an internal 33K modem and the
NIC. The monitor is a ViewSonic GT775 17-inch.

BTW, the case is still off the PC.

I don't know if this behavior is connected to the new NIC, or if that's
just coincidence. I would appreciate advice on solving this problem.

TIA,
Larry Gurley
