I've got my friend's MB manual but maybe I'd
better summarise what the problem is first:
I replaced her 2x32mb 66mhz ram with 3x128mb
133mhz, filling all 3 slots available on the MB.
On boot up 384mb was shown but it said "memory
check failed. Press F1 to continue, Press Esc to
enter setup"
Pressing F1 allowed booting to continue normally
and the computer works normally.
Pressing Esc and entering setup, then saving and
exiting did not do away with the error message.
Looking around inside setup showed that 384mb ram
was orrectly shown in Standard CMOS Setup. In
Chipset features, SDRAM RAS-to-CAS Delay and
SDRAM
Percharge Time had both changed to "fast" (the
manual said "slow for 66mhz, fast for 100mhz").
I have no idea what these terms mean, just
quoting the manual.
SDRAM CAS Latency Time remain unchanged at "3",
tho the manual said it should be "2" for 100mhz
DIMM. (I changed it to 2 but it made no
difference).
DRAM speed selection was 60ns and I haven't
changed it coz there was no marking on the chips
to say what speed they were.
Swopping the ram around didn't help; removing
some of them also didn't help - the error message
remained.
Some specifications: TM-P2LX motherboard, with
onboard PCI IDE and super Multi-I/O. Award Bios.
Supports 384mb 3.3v EDO/SDRAM.
Pentium II cpu 300mhz.
10 gig Fujitsu HD.
CD-RW as secondary master, 36x CD as primary
MASTER with the HD as primary slave.

Sorry for being so long-winded. Hope you can
help. Thanks.

Cathy
