Personally, I've never found a PS2 to Serial adapter that worked.  I'd suggest you stick with a serial mouse.  But not a Genius - never had much luck with them either.  The best serial mice that I've used have been Microsoft.

  windows 98se, older computer with serial ports, i finally got the computer to reconize the mouse, there are no conflicts with it on the device manager, but it still won't work, mouse is connected to the serial port with a adapter, and am useing a ps2 mouse. is this the problem? im new to computers and any help would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!
