Three-button mice are pretty common amongst Unix workstations,
especially those using the "X" window system. I'm not sure what
functions are usually bound to the third button in those
environments.
Some of the makers of PC-compatible 3-button mice offer alternative
mouse drivers, which usually make a single middle click look, to
Windows and applications, like a double left click.
