Of the non-Microsoft server OSes for PC hardware[*], OpenBSD seems
to be highly rated for (a) pretty secure configuration "out of the
box", and (b) networking performance.

[*] Whaddaya expect from a list called "PCBUILD"? Well, okay, for a
server you probably want a multi-CPU (SMP) configuration with plenty
of RAM and SCSI -- possibly RAID -- drive hardware. You might want
to look into clustering, to provide load balancing and fail-over.
And whatever you set up, you really should put it behind some kind
of firewall box....
