I purchased the HP7200 external model at work and have trouble getting reliable
backup copies of CDs.

I am using a Dell Optiplex GXi P166. Nothing else connected to the parallel port.

Using the Adaptec CD Copier software that came with the HP7200.

I will make the copy with no error conditions indicated and can list the entire
directory structure on the new copy but if I try to copy all the files or do an
install of the software from the new disk, I will come across a file that won't be
read. In some cases I can then look for that file and copy it singly. The net
effect is the disk copies are nearly worthless as backups.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?

I have tried Maxell, TDK, and HP media, all with the same results.
