  He might check out the Matrox "m3d"; I haven't seen one on store
shelves in at least a month (probably retired as the G200s have been
showing up), but I think they were about $30-40.  They got high marks
for DirectX support, but did less well on OpenGL -- to pick an ideal
card, you'd have to know which is used by the games to be played.
