Hi,

By all means be patient and let it finish, if you want to keep all the data
intact.

If you don't care about the data, ie you have great backups, then stop it
and just resinstall the OS from scratch and choose "enable large disk" when
prompted.

60 gig is a lot of hard drive, personally, I do not have any idea how long
it will take.
As long as you see some progress being made, then just wait
