   The red or blue colored pin stripe on your data ribbon cable should
probably be next to the power cable at the back of the floppy drive. That
color indicates pin number 1 and it should match up with pin 1 on the gold
pins of the floppy drive. I have seen a very few floppy drives that have pin
number 1 on the other side away from the power cable connector, but more
frequently it's next to the power connector (called a Berg connector).
