Hi Richard,

If your CPU is boxed, don't worry.  It's as safe as Grandma's drawers.
Both Intel and AMD have utilities on their sites to verify the
authenticity of their CPU's if you suspect that someone has been up to a
little skulduggery on an installed processor.

       Steve: How can one verify the CPU as you mentioned in your step
one? Can programs like SiSoft Sandra and Fresh Diagnose correctly
identify the CPU.

I'd like to be able to identify my CPU without opening the box - it's
still under gaurantee.
