I have two such systems set up, and will be building a third.

First uses all difff HD and Adaptec 2944. An older 2940U is used for tape,
JAZ, Scanner.

Second is an older EISA board and uses Adaptec 2744 and 2740. The 2740 again
doesn't have any HD drives, only tape, JAZ.

2944 and 2940 are PCI so resources aren't an issue. Just make sure if you
connect external devices you keep single ended and diff card straight.

2744 and 2740 are EISA cards and so resources were assigned. Just use
different IRQ's. External connection on these is a problem becasue 2744 is
wide (mini68) and 2740 is narrow (mini50).

First system is WinNT 4.0 WS. Second is a Win95 machine. Both systems work
great.(Win95 machines problems are due to Win95 and not the adapters).

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Regards,

David Brenner

My question is, can I have both a regular AND a differential controller in
the same computer? (Hooking up, of course, the differential items to the
diff controller, etc.)
