Yes, I did have the jumpers correct on the new 200GB drive once I took the 40 GB drive out. That was a good point that I forgot to mention.

I took the chance that I was stressing the 300W power supply and swapped it out with a 400W one and all is AOK now!!! I suspect that the sound I was hearing from the 200GB drive was it trying to initialize with first power on, but it was not able to get enough power. I did not go through all the components and count amps/watts, but I was about to do that next. I have added a bunch of USB recently: IRda, handheld remote, 2 printers and 2 CDRoms recently. :):):):)
