My system periodically locks up for no apparent reason. This can happen at
any time, looking at email, running various apps, Norton's Anti Virus,
playing games, etc. This is not the minor lock up an app, where the Close
Program window can help, but rather a complete lock up that requires reset
or reboot. I tried a reformat and re-install about a month ago and this
did not help.

Some stats about my system:

FIC AN11-C motherboard w/VIA KT266A chipset & onboard sound card (new)
Athlon XP 1800+ 266 CPU(new)
Diamond Stealth III S540 32mb AGP (2yrs old)
512 MB DDR 266mhz PC2100 ram (new)
40x CDROM (2 yrs old)
Iomega 8x4x32 cd burner (1 yr old)

WinME OS

Relisys 17" monitor (4 yrs old)
MS Natural Pro keyboard
MS Gamevoice
Midiland speakers (do not use subwoofer since the sound blaster live value
sound card died - another problem)
My net connection is via cable modem and USB port.

Other problems:
A drive does not work, I do not use it so I do not worry much about it.

CRDOM requires rebooting of system to play games, soI use the burner more.

I think the sound card crashed since the sound is at about 1/4 volume and
if I have the speakers plugged into the sub woofer, all the sound comes out
of the sub woofer. These are the same symptoms when I plug into the
onboard sound card of the motherboard, maybe not the sound blaster sound
card. I have no way of testing the sound blaster in another pc.

Any help on the lock ups or the other problems would be much
appreciated. If more info is required, please ask.

Thanks
Sam Baughman
