Jerry rather than Safe Mode try rebooting into DOS mode and run
scan diskj first 'outside' the Windows environment. You do this by
typing 'scandisk' at the C:\ prompt and let it run in 'DOS' then
when its done, type the word 'defrag' and it should run. You may
have to change directories to C:\Windows if they dont run from
just the C prompt.
