You can get a very good board such as a Creative TNT, or Banshee, or the
Maxtrox G200 for under $100.00.  The TNT and Banshee are designed more for
Gaming, the Matrox more for fast text and Graphics.  If cost is an issue,
you can pick up a Diamond Viper 330 or STB Velocity 128 for under $50.00
these days.  Both are excellent 2D chips with OK 3D capabilities.  They are
a generation old, and depending on usage, the user may decide it's necessary
to upgrade within a short period, however.  If you want to spend a little
more, then try the new 3Dfx Voodoo 3 2000, Very fast card that retails for
$129.00 (think of it as a Banshee on Steroids).
