Hi Everyone: I just cleaned out a person's laptop she had 89 viruses,
Trojans, and worms , , also her web browser was hijacked , it was plugged
almost solid -- I thought I would have to format . I cleaned everything
out with the online scanner form Microsoft's website , then I installed
Microsoft Essentials.. It's been a long time since I have seen a laptop in a
condition like that she has Vista I rechecked everything her system is
clean.. I scanned and defragged -- I also updated IE and installed Firefox
she didn't even have any updates from Microsoft my goodness.. I also
installed CCleaner too, I do like Glary Utilities it doesn't harm any
program that's not Microsoft's <G> When I read your email I thought I might
add this also. I have Malwarebytes on my laptop I loaded windows 7 pro
business edition with Microsoft Essentials running so far there are no
conflicts yet.. It not a good idea to have two anti viruses software running
they will comprises each other .. Have a great day Jackie

keep updating Malwarebytes while in safe mode w/networking. It took a few
days but they eventually came up with the fix for mine...what does it say
the virus name is? and type? maybe Microsoft Essentials is the way to
go...try it and let us know. When I was infected Norton and mcgafee were
useless too.

Thanks Paul for your suggestions. I have been scanning the computer all day
with AVG, Superantispyware and Malwarebytes in normal mode and also in safe
mode and these programs seem to be incapable of removing this infection. It
seems that every time I run a scan the infection gets worse; last count was
up to thirty nine separate infections. As I mentioned before, AVG and
Superantispyware can identify and list every one of these things but cannot
do a removal.
My programs are not running normal, the monitor flickers and turns black for
a few seconds, then recovers and I'm getting numerous advertisement pop-ups.
Do you think I should try a system restore? If so, what is the best way to
go about this? The last thing I want to do is a Windows reinstall.
