Yes I've used Parallel port (very slow), USB1.1 (faster but not great), USB
2.0 with PCMCIA card (Extremely fast).

Look at most of the internet sites that sell external hard drive enclosures
($30-40) and any size hard drive you wish.  I can give you more details if
you wish.
