  Support for USB mass storage routinely assumes FAT32 drive formatting.  If 
this what you were using on the prior machine, there's a reasonable chance 
that you old drive does not need to be reformatted to work.
  But if you were using NTFS, then you may need some other way to transfer 
those files.
