Hi, I have inherited a Compaq Pentium II that has only one fault. Music plays in the CDROM a little faster than normal, giving a slightly 'chipmunk' effect.
I cleaned the player and the sound was a little cleaner but still fast. I replaced the unit with a brand new unit but the result was the same so the problem apparently does not lie in the player itself. Would appreciate any clues as my available tech is so far lost for an answer.

Yours, Colin Joyce
