I had this problem with my Athlon Thunderbird 1Ghz I swapped it for a
1.1 and it booted up fine so I suggest that the processor may be faulty,
if you can 'pinch' someone else's just to test it

I believe your problem is more than likely your power supply. For the
AMD
Duron chips you need a solid 300 watt power supply to power up the chip
and
board.
I know this because I have already been there and done that. I suggest
you
try a quality power supply rated at 300 watts and see if that cures your
ills.
Also I strongly suggest you add an additional case fan for exhaust
purposes
because this chip will generate a lot of heat.
