Bob,

Here is how I format my Hard Drive, and then install WinXP Pro the Upgrade
Edition to ugrade from Win 98SE which is cheaper than the full version,
This presumes Drive C is where your O/S is installed.

1. I set my BIOS so my floppy drive is the first drive my computer looks for.

2. I insert my Win98 Startup Disk into the floppy. If you don't have a
Win98 Start Up Disk you can get one at Boot.com.

3. Start the machine with CD support.

4. When the computer gets to the A:\ prompt I then type in Format C: Make
sure you leave a space between the word Format and the letter C:

5. You will get a warning message. WARNING ALL DATA ON NON-REMOVABLE DISK
DRIVE C WILL BE LOST.
      Proceed with format (Y/N) y

6. After the format is finished you will be prompted to name the drive. I
type in Drive.

7. You then get the A;\ prompt.

8. Place your Win2 K disk in the CD-ROM, then type in your CD ROM drive
letter if it is E:\setup.

9. Then after you have installed your Win2K, you can upgrade to WinXP.

I think I've covered everything, but you never know and maybe some one else
could fill in blanks I've missed.

George
