MSI website clearly states DDR2 667/800 memory.  Can you borrow a stick from someone to try it?  Is your cpu on the MSI list of compatible cpu's?

Possibly this MB requires 2 sticks of  RAM rather than one stick. Check
the MB manual. Just a thought.
