USB 1=12 Mbps, USB 2.0=480 Mbps, FireWire=400 Mbps

While newer digital video cameras are beginning to
include USB (presumably 2.0), FireWire has been the
interface of choice for video cameras to use to
upload to a computer for editing and production
purposes. For example, the Pinnacle Studio DV
product includes the video editing software and
a FireWire interface card and drivers. As for other
communications needs, clearly USB 2.0 is faster.
A client of mine uses an external USB 2.0 CD-RW
as a backup device for his two dentist offices. He
xcopies his data folder to a CD-RW, then copies it
to the same location on his other office machine,
maintaining the currency of his data at both of his
offices.
