It sounds like you have an add-in controller card for IDE
(and ATAPI devices.)

IF no hard drives are hooked up to the controller card,
these messages are totally normal... (I get them just like
that since my controller card only has CD drives hooked to it...

If all of the above is the same as your configuration, your problems
later are likely caused by other reasons...

My first guess would be some sort of thermal problem. How old
is the system?  Fans can start to slow down in as little as two years...
(Especially sleeve bearing Northbridge chip MB fans...)
Then there is the problem of accumulated dust inside a PC...
