Subject: Modem Problem/ Software Related I think

  Question

After I log onto the Internet and I am browsing or downloading from a site, my modem continues to dial up at infrequent intervals. It can interrupt the download for about 20 seconds or so. The download will then continue. If I am browsing on a site. the dial up also interrupts.

I have checked all "dialer " files and have deleted all cookies. I have deleted programs I think may offend, but to no avail. How can I track the problem down.

Ihave Intel Pent 4, win xp, Modem is CNXT Soft56k Data fax. (driver is 4.5.4.0 dated 23/10/01) ??
