I have a Duron 950 system running Win 98se and have recently encountered a strange problem.  After the computer has been running for about 30 minutes, the mouse becomes "sticky".  The pointer does not respond to mouse movement, but jumps to the new position.  At this time I will also notice that the realtime clock is behind time, around 5 minutes after running for 30 minutes.  It all clears up when I reboot.
I have replaced the PS/2 mouse once, replaced it with a USB mouse with no improvement.  Tech support suggests an overheating CPU, but it's running 116-118 F well within the normal range.  The problem happens whether I'm using the computer or just letting it run idle.
I am stumped!  And I don't understand the clock thing, unless the displayed time is from a secondary clock that only runs when the machine is turned on.
Anyone have any suggestions for what I can try next?  The funky mouse makes the machine unusable until I reboot.
